How to Upload Your Music to VK (VKontakte)
There are two ways to publish your music on the VKontakte platform.
Method 1: Through a Music Distributor
What is a distributor? A distributor is an intermediary between an artist and music platforms. They help place your track on streaming services — including VK Music — and handle monetization issues. With their help, you can release your track across all digital platforms.
Before sending your track to a distributor, you need to:
- Prepare an audio file in WAV or FLAC format.
- Check the sound quality (recommended bitrate: 320 kbps or higher).
- Fill in the metadata (title, artist, album, release year).
- Prepare an album cover that meets the platform’s requirements.
- Provide information about the songwriters/composers.
Working with a distributor is a professional approach to music distribution. It ensures legal access to the VK Music audience and enables monetization of your work.
If you prepare your release correctly and follow all requirements, you’ll be able to successfully present your tracks on one of Russia’s largest music platforms. For example, you can release music via Voque Stars.
Method 2: Direct Upload via VKontakte
How to upload a track via the web version:
- Log in to VKontakte.
- Go to the «Music» section.
- Click the «Upload Music» button.
- Select an MP3 file from your device.
- Wait for the upload to complete.

Important: You cannot upload an audio file directly via the mobile app. Use the browser version of the site to upload.
When you upload audio directly via the VKontakte platform, you can publish any content — but monetization is not available, and you won’t be able to view listening statistics for your track.
However, anyone can listen to your content if you:
- send them the audio file directly;
- pin it to your group’s wall;
- post it on your personal page.
